The VA rebuilt into a world-class institution — not another broken promise.

The men and women who serve this country deserve nothing but the absolute best we have to offer. The VA should be the finest medical institution in the nation — not one of its most notorious failures.

Defense Spending — Accountability Over Cuts

Defense spending is so deeply intertwined with GDP that dramatic cuts would damage the broader economy. The problem is not the amount — it is how it is being spent. Competitive bidding structures and genuine accountability in defense procurement end the era of no-bid, cost-plus contracts with major defense contractors. Oversight moves to the Government Accountability Office (GAO), with expanded pre-award audit authority — catching waste before contracts are signed, not after the money is spent. The savings generated are reinvested directly into veteran care.

Expanding outside-provider access under the MISSION Act draws a real, ongoing objection from veterans' service organizations including the VFW and DAV: that expanding private-sector access, rather than fixing VA capacity directly, risks becoming a permanent workaround that erodes the VA rather than rebuilding it. Both tracks running simultaneously — bridge now, rebuild for the long term — is the platform's answer to that concern, not a dismissal of it.

Rebuilding the VA

The Department of Veterans Affairs becomes a state-of-the-art medical institution — world-class facilities, mental health resources, and expanded care delivered away from the hospital through outpatient and community-based services. This is not an overnight rebuild. It will take years. But it starts on day one.

The MISSION Act as the Bridge

While the VA is being rebuilt, the MISSION Act — which allows veterans to see outside providers when VA wait times are too long — is expanded and protected. Veterans should never be forced to wait for care they have already earned. Both tracks run simultaneously: expand outside access now, build the VA into what it should be for the long term.
